Gerard Toal is the author, co-author and editor of 7 books, 65 peer-reviewed journal articles and 20 book chapters.
He published his first article in 1981 as an undergraduate student at the National University of Ireland, and his first peer reviewed journal article in Political Geography in 1986. In accepting it for publication, the editor Dr Peter Taylor, described the article as ‘critical geopolitics.’
